Our client is a leading System Integrator working across diverse industries such as water, food and beverage, mining, oil and gas, and general manufacturing. They provide customisable electrical and automation solutions for industrial manufacturing, process plants and utilities, range from providing a single measurement to highly complex integrated automation and reporting systems.

The Position
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in this Melbourne-based team, focusing on the electrical design aspects of their projects. You will primarily oversee the high-level design phase, ensuring that essential groundwork is laid out for subsequent detailed design phases. While the HV side of their projects is subcontracted, you will manage this aspect, ensuring seamless integration with their overall design objectives. This role offers growth opportunities, with progression to a Principal position.

Duties include:
  • Develop drawing standards to maintain consistency and clarity across project documentation.
  • Attend coordination meetings to ensure alignment with project stakeholders and resolve any design-related issues.
  • Utilise PowerCad modelling to analyse and optimise electrical systems.
  • Generate preliminary design deliverables for Low Voltage (LV) systems, including load list development and distribution philosophy.
  • Manage subcontracted High Voltage (HV) design deliverables, liaising with power authorities and coordinating transformer locations.
 Skills & experience required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Approximately 15 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on LV systems.
  • Familiarity with SCADA and PLC systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in PowerCad modelling software.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage subcontracted HV design aspects effectively.
